EXCLUSIVE: MGM+ has expanded its cast for the upcoming second season of its action-adventure drama Robin Hood as production gets underway in Serbia. James Purefoy (Masters of the Universe), Colin O’Donoghue (Once Upon a Time) and Luke Roberts (Ransom) are set for key roles in Season 2.
Season two expands the world of Robin Hood, as the arrival of King Henry (Purefoy), Prince Richard (O’Donoghue) and the ambitious Amaury D’Montfort (Roberts) reshapes the political landscape, forcing Rob and his allies to navigate shifting loyalties, royal power struggles and dangerous new threats.
Purefoy’s King Henry is the formidable monarch whose ruthless vision for England sets the season’s events into motion; O’Donoghue’s Prince Richard is Henry’s eldest son and rightful heir whose fate threatens to plunge the kingdom into civil war;Roberts‘ D’Montfort is an ambitious Norman nobleman whose political aspirations place him at the center of Nottingham’s growing power struggle.

Per the official logline, Season 2 expands the world beyond Sherwood and Nottingham into the treacherous courts of England, France, and Rome, transforming the outlaw rebellion into a high stakes battle for the soul of a kingdom. As the Angevin empire threatens to tear itself apart, Rob and Marian are drawn into the orbit of kings and queens, forced to wield the very instruments of Norman power to secure a future for the Saxons.

Season 2 will be available to MGM+ viewers in the U.S., UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, Latin America, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
Robin Hood is produced by Lionsgate Television, with showrunner John Glenn, director Jonathan English, Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman serving as executive producers. Additional premiere details will be announced at a later date.

Purefoy was most recently seen in the Travis Knight-directed Masters of the Universe. Best known for his work in HBO’s Rome and Fox’s The Following, Purefoy is repped by CAA and Independent Talent Group.
O’Donoghue is known for his starring role as Captain Killian “Hook” Jones on ABC’s Once Upon a Time. His other notable credits include The Right Stuff and Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, among others. He’s repped by Independent Talent Group, UTA, LBI Entertainment and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
