EXCLUSIVE: Taylor Ortega (Big Mistakes), Tim Meadows (Peacemaker) and Dan Bucatinsky (The Comeback) have come aboard for undisclosed roles in Netflix‘s 13 Going on 30 reboot.
They join the previously announced Emily Bader, Logan Lerman, Adeline Rudolph and Jessica Alba. No word yet on the sequel’s plot or character details. Production kicked off in L.A. last month with the original film’s star, Jennifer Garner, aboard as executive producer.
A 2004 rom-com from Columbia Pictures, 13 Going on 30 centers on a 13-year-old girl who magically wakes up as her 30-year-old self and must navigate adulthood while rediscovering who she really is. Garner played the grown-up version of the character, starring opposite Mark Ruffalo in the beloved film from Gary Winick. 13 Going on 30 grossed roughly $96 million in theaters and has endured for decades as a cultural touchstone, making a reboot inevitable. Already, Garner has exec produced a stage musical adaptation, which premiered at the Manchester Opera House last fall. Original screenwriters Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa penned the book for the stage adaptation, which features original songs by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner.
Brett Haley (Netflix’s People We Meet on Vacation) is directing from a script by Hannah Marks (Mark, Mary, & Some Other People) with revisions by Flora Greeson (The Princess Diaries 3). Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum are producing for RK Films, with Garner exec producing alongside Donna Roth and Susan Arnold, Scott Hemming for Revolution Studios, Alyssa Altman for RK Films, Marks, Gina Matthews and Ted Gidlow.
Recently seen on CBS’s Ghosts and Netflix’s Big Mistakes, Ortega is perhaps best known for a major role on Fox’s Welcome to Flatch. Her film credits include Another Simple Favor and the dark comedy Jackpot!, a pair of projects directed by Paul Feig for Prime Video. She is repped by Gersh, Mosaic, and Granderson Des Rochers.

Meadows is an SNL alum otherwise best known for roles in comedies like Mean Girls and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. Most recently, he’s been seen starring in CBS’ workplace comedy DMV, additionally recurring on HBO Max’s Peacemaker. Upcoming, he’ll be seen in A24’s The Chaperones starring Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson. He is repped by Reliant Talent and Brillstein.
Known for exec producing and starring alongside Lisa Kudrow in HBO’s comedy The Comeback, which recently resurfaced after a decade for a third and final season, Bucatinsky has also recently been seen in the premium cabler’s Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Hacks. He is repped by Innovative, The Rosenzweig Group, and Myman Greenspan Fox.
