MGM+ has picked up an internationally financed drama series starring Anna Kendrick, Sam Heughan and J.K. Simmons.
The streamer has bought Embassy, which was created by fledgling writer Rom Lotan, for the U.S. and a slew of global territories.
It comes nine months after Stuart Ford’s AGC Television launched the series at Mipcom. The show was financed and produced by Ford’s operation and produced with Ascendant Fox and Turbine Studios.
Embassy stars Kendrick as Layla a sharp and resourceful American diplomat, who faces an impossible choice: protect the U.S. Ambassador or follow his orders to exfiltrate a high value asset being held at the embassy after armed mercenaries storm the U.S. Embassy in London. As a larger conspiracy unfolds, Layla must rely on her instincts—and the reluctant help of her ex-fiancé, a British SAS soldier—in the tense hours before extraction.

Simmons plays the U.S. Ambassador and Heughan plays the ex- fiancé.
MGM+ will also stream the series in Italy, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, and Argentina.
The series was shot in Cologne, Germany and London, England.
John Strickland (Bodyguard) and Christian Alvart (Case 39) direct. Exec producers include Lotan, Strickland, Ascendant Fox’s Hester Ruoff, Bart Ruspoli and Matt Mitchell, Turbine’s Daniel Hetzer, Jakob Neuhausser, Justin Thomson and David Tanner, and AGC’s Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz and Miguel A. Palos Jr.
AGC International distributes internationally and has already sold the show to Amazon in the UK, Ireland, Canada, France, Australia and New Zealand and ZDF for Germany.
