As Julianne Nicholson prepares to reprise her Mare of Easttown role, she’s had to get back in touch with the character.
The 2x Emmy winner, who won her first in 2021 for playing Lori Ross on the HBO series, explained that she “was concerned about expectations” for bringing the character back in the upcoming second season of Task.
“It’s been, like, six years,” she told People. “And so I was like, ‘Do I know who this person is?’ I was concerned about expectations or people’s devotion to that show and the characters in it.”
Nicholson continued, “Once I got there and I was back with Brad Ingelsby, the creator, and Mark Roybal, the producer, and the same costume designer, same dialect coach, same makeup person, it felt so comfortable, like your favorite coat [that] you slipped back on.”

“I won’t speak about Lori,” she said of what her character gets into on Task, but she teased that the sophomore season’s big crime “is so moving and “feels very current, adding, “I think people are going to be blown away.”

With a cast including Mark Ruffalo, Mahershala Ali, Harry Melling and Edgar Ramirez, Nicholson said the ensemble is “out of control,” noting: “Everybody’s just brought their A-game. It’s going to be amazing.”
Last month, Deadline reported that Nicholson would reprise her Mare of Easttown role as Lori Ross in Season 2 Task, both of which are set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia and hail from creator and executive producer by Brad Inglesby.
In Season 2 of Task, Tom Brandis (Ruffalo) takes the helm of a new task force, but the deeper the operation runs, the harder it is to tell who’s the target.
