Jesse Eisenberg’s ‘The Debut’ & Fred Cavayé’s ‘Les Misérables’ Among Six New Titles In San Sebastián Official Selection

New films by Jesse Eisenberg, Fred Cavayé, Amanda Kernell and Gabriel Martins, together with the feature film debuts from Ah Biao and Tony Vahl, will compete in the Official Selection of the San Sebastián Film Festival.

Les Misérables,The Debut, Garrat du váimmu (Brace Your Heart), Vicentina pede desculpas (On Behalf of My Son), Bian Jing (Border) and Krux are the new titles.

Jesse Eisenberg directs Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti in his third feature as a director, The Debut. Bangkok-based director, screenwriter and cinematographer Ah Biaocompetes with his film Bian Jing (Border).

Fred Cavayé competes with a new adaptation of Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables. Check out a new picture from the movie above.

Swedish director Amanda Kernell will present Garrat du váimmu (Brace Your Heart), in which a young woman does everything in her power to keep her family’s reindeer herd alive.

Vicentina pede desculpas (On Behalf of My Son)meanwhile, is the third feature film from the Brazilian Gabriel Martins.

Tony Vahl will compete in the Official Selection with Krux. Inspired by true events, her feature film debut tells the dark story of a small northeastern German village at the end of WWII, when the Nazi regime gave its citizens the order to leave nothing alive for the enemy to find.

The abovementioned half a dozen movies join the ten already announced ascompetition titles in the Official Selection of the San Sebastián Film Festival, including new movies from Mike Leigh and a TV series from Pablo Larraín. We covered the full lineup here.
