EXCLUSIVE: David Gordon Green has added four more to the cast of Supermax, his new action thriller for Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax: Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story), Andrés Almeida (Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths), Martin Bats Bradford (Hit Man) and Erika Ringor (King Richard).
Character details for the film, led by Will Smith and AnnaSophia Robb, are being kept under wraps. Production has just kicked off today in New South Wales, Australia, with support from the NSW Government through Screen NSW’s Made in NSW Fund.
Supermax follows two FBI agents (Smith & Robb) investigating a seemingly impossible murder within the impenetrable walls of a maximum-security prison. Others set for roles include Jaafar Jackson and Jason Clarke.

Green is directing from a script by David Weil and David J. Rosen, with The Picture Company’s Andrew Rona & Alex Heineman producing alongside Smith and Adam Fishbach for Westbrook Studios.
Weil and Rosen are exec producing alongside Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman, President of Film Alexandra Loewy, COO Thom Zadra and SVP Spencer Ela, as well as James Lassiter and Miguel Melendez for Westbrook Studios, with Natalie Laine Williams serving as associate producer.
CAA Media Finance brokered the deal between Miramax and Amazon MGM, which will release Supermax on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Chavez broke out with his turn as Lyle Menendez in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story before going on to reunite with Murphy on his FX horror drama Grotesquerie. Most recently, he wrapped The Technique, a psychological thriller from the producers of Longlegs and Oh, Canada, where he stars alongside Emma Roberts, Ben Platt and Noomi Rapace. He is represented by CAA, Untitled, and Felker, McGinnis & Ryan.
A veteran of the Mexican film and television industry, Almeida’s credits include Alfonso Cuarón’s Y tu mamá también and Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths. Next up, he has a role alongside Pedro Pascal and Danny Ramirez in Todd Haynes’ romance mystery De Noche. He is repped by COLOürs Talent.
Bradford has been seen in Apple’s limited series The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, with additional credits including Richard Linklater’s Hit Man, Justin Chon’s Blue Bayou and the Sony boxing biopic Big George Foreman. He is repped by Erica Michelle Singleton of HIAR Management.
Seen in Gina Prince-Blythwood’s Love & Basketball, Amazon’s Bosch: Legacy and Apple’s The Morning Show, Ringor reunites with Smith on Supermax after working with the actor on King Richard, the Warner Bros. film that brought him his first Oscar.
