EXCLUSIVE: Lux Angeles Studios has hired Binh Dang as the final piece of an executive puzzle assembled as the company eyes production on indie pics in the $10M-$20M range.
Dang will be Head of Production at Lux Angeles, working alongside a new look executive team comprising co-CEOs Matt Macur and Rebecca O’Hara, chair Steve Fabos, COO Lenny Vitulli, CRO Thomas Walton and Creative Executive Damien Douglas.
With a Hollywood career spanning more than 30 years, Dang now has more than 70 production credits to his name, and will also play an integral role in the expansion of the studio’s international production work. Through its Lux East arm, Lux Angeles is attempting to create a bridge between Hollywood and Thailand to access the latter’s country’s production infrastructure, crews, locations, and tax incentives.
Lux Angeles – which operates an ‘end-to-end’ business in development, production and post-production – already has a slate of five original titles in post, three were shot in Southeast Asia, including Survive the Night in Thailand and two others in the Philippines. Production on a new project begins in Bangkok next week.

Lux Angeles is currently readying thriller Survive the Night, prison fight club drama Big Tiger, tropical island crime pic White Tide, redemption story Angel of Harlem and poker drama Aces High. All five on the 2026 slate will be out for sales by year-end, according to the company.
Next up is a push into larger indie pics up to $20M. “We’re building Lux Angeles Studios for where the independent film business is going, not where it has been,” said Macur. “The opportunity is to bring together exceptional creative talent with a business model that is disciplined, efficient and built to protect the investment in every project. As we move into larger budgets, that foundation becomes even more important.”
O’Hara added: “While many independent companies focus on optimizing one production at a time, our goal is to optimize the business itself. We’re creating a system where development, production, post and international partnerships work together from the beginning. That allows us to move faster, control costs and put more of the resources where they belong – on the screen and in the creative process.” T
The news comes three years after Lux Angeles established a pact with Fab Factory Entertainment that saw the former’s full-service production and post-production capabilities combine with Fab Factory’s business focus. This is to allow them to adapt to issues as they arise, reduce budget inefficiency and have greater control over development, production and sales.
“We recognize that the independent film business is changing rapidly,” said Macur. “Our response isn’t to wait for the market to become predictable. It’s to build a company that can operate effectively in an unpredictable market.”
Lux Angeles has alo partnered with The Gersh Agency, which will represent the studio across both its Talent and Literary departments.
