Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first trailer for Ali G: Who Iz I?, its new comedy in which Sacha Baron Cohen reprises his classic character of Ali G.
Releasing globally in theaters on Oct. 23, Who Iz I?‘s plot has been kept under wraps until now. News of the film, marking Cohen’s feature directorial debut, only emerged via a leak last month. Cohen made headlines recently when he was spotted in character at Wimbledon.
Ali G is the British hip-hop character popularized by Cohen in the early 2000s. He debuted as the character on Channel 4’s The 11 O’Clock Show in 1998 before going on to headline Da Ali G Show, his own show fully centered on the character, which aired its first season on Channel 4 before making its way to HBO for two further installments. Previously in film, Ali G was the centerpiece of Ali G Indahouse, a Universal Pictures comedy co-written by and starring Cohen.
Ali G: Who Iz I? reunites Cohen with Amazon MGM on the heels of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, the Borat sequel released on Prime Video during Covid, which earned a pair of Oscar nominations. Check out the trailer for the new film by clicking above.
