With the Owens sisters returning for another magical outing with Practical Magic 2, a trilogy could be in the cards.
Sandra Bullock, who reprises her role as Sally Owens when the sequel premieres on Sept. 10, teased that a third movie could happen if the Susanne Bier-helmed followup succeeds at the box-office, noting she’d want to pass the franchise on to her onscreen daughters.
“We’ll do a number three if this takes off,” Bullock told Vanity Fair. “And we’ll pass the torch to the girls.”
Taking over the roles from Evan Rachel Wood and Alexandra Artrip in the original 1998 movie, Joey King and Maisie Williams star in Practical Magic 2 as Sally’s daughters Kylie and Antonia.

From a script by Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett and Kelly Marcel, Practical Magic 2 sees Sally (Bullock) and Gillian (Nicole Kidman) return to a world steeped in moonlit mischief and powerful ancestral magic, as the Owens sisters must confront the dark curse that threatens to unravel their family once and for all.
Based on Alice Hoffman’s The Book of Magic (2021), a followup to her 1995 novel Practical Magic, the sequel could lead to multiple onscreen paths, with the prequel books The Rules of Magic (2017) and Magic Lessons (2020) exploring the history of the Owens family.
