USA Network has slotted Friday, October 16 for the Season 2 premiere of hit legal drama series The Rainmaker, inspired by John Grisham’s bestselling novel, and unveiled the full trailer.
Season two stars returning Milo Callaghan, Lana Parrilla, P.J. Byrne, Madison Iseman, Merle Dandridge, Richard Kind and Austin Nichols.
The season picks back up with Rudy Baylor (Callaghan), an underdog lawyer taking on powerful interests alongside his boss Jocelyn “Bruiser” Stone (Parrilla) and his right-hand man Deck Shifflet (Byrne), the firm’s colorful paralegal. This season, J. Lyman Stone and Associates faces old adversaries and new ones in a case where the lives of hundreds of children hang in the balance, and where winning might be just as dangerous as losing. Later, Rudy goes up against his former law school flame, Sarah Plankmore (Madison Iseman), in the courtroom at the behest of her mysterious new boss, Amanda Vonn (Dandridge), a powerful attorney whose agenda may be hiding a shocking international conspiracy. In a separate case, Bruiser’s ex-husband Tom Cassady (Nichols) turns to her for help as his legal troubles threaten his life and that of the star pitcher (Liam O’Halloran) of the minor league baseball team he coaches.
Additional cast members include Asher De Land, Libby Kay, Kevin Ryan, and Tim Murphy. John Slattery and Karen Bryson also return.
Watch on Deadline
Showrunner and executive producer Michael Seitzman shared thoughts on the upcoming season in an earlier interview with Deadline. “Season 1 ended with Rudy winning a massive case. Season 2 opens with the case in appeal and Rudy suddenly famous, receiving letters and phone calls from every lost cause in the state looking for a savior, said Seitzman. “One letter arrives from a kid in juvenile detention, and it’s the one thing in the pile nobody would blame him for ignoring. But Deck sees something in it, a mystery and a puzzle to solve. Moreover, he sees it as a way for Rudy to get back to being a fighter for the underdog. The season for Rudy is about reminding himself who he really is.”
In 2025, The Rainmaker became USA Network’s most-watched freshman series in seven years and finished the year as the #1 highest-rated new scripted TV series across all of cable.
The Rainmaker is produced by Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Atomic Monster. Michael Seitzman, who also serves as showrunner, John Grisham, Patrick Moran, Jason Richman, David Gernert and Jason Blum serve as executive producers.
