Beta Cinema Posts Fresh Deals For Trudie Styler’s ‘Up Against It’ Ahead Of TIFF Debut

Beta Cinema has unveiled a raft of new deals for Trudie Styler‘s comedy Up Against It ahead of its world premiere as a gala presentation in Toronto later this week.

The fresh deals include to Spain (Youplanet Pictures/Caramel), Greece (Spentzos Film), Turkey (Mars Production), Bulgaria (Beta Film) and Latin America (A2 Filmes).

Beta Cinema reports that the film, first announced at the post-production stage last TIFF under the title of Rose’s Baby, has now sold to more than 50 territories.

Previously announced territories include to Australia & New Zealand (Kismet), Middle East (Front Row), Italy (Rai Cinema), Scandinavia (SF-Studios), Benelux (Paradiso), Poland (Best Film) Czech Republic and Slovakia (Foxx), Former Yugoslavia (MCF), and Hungary (Cinetel).

The tender family comedy stars Oscar nominee Antonio Banderas (The Mask of Zorro) and Eva Birthistle (Bad Sisters) as a divorced couple who struggle to maintain the minimum communication required to share custody of their beloved only child Rose.

When it’s discovered that, not only does Rose have a rare form of leukemia, but that, their best bet at keeping her healthy and alive is for Álvaro and Saffron to produce a second child who could provide a transfusion, the ex-partners are forced to bury the hatchet.

Up Against It isproduced by Maven Screen Media and Tempo Productions.

Banderas and Birthistle (Bad Sisters) are joined in the cast by Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist), Arinzé Kene (The Pass, Lee), Oscar winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Oscar nominee Richard E. Grant (Saltburn) and rising talent Eden Hamilton (The Railway Children Return).

The film was edited by Walter Fasano (Call Me By Your Name, I Am Love) and Nathan Nugent (Room), with Academy Award nominee Dante Spinotti (L.A. Confidential) serving as director of photography.
