Pramac’s Izan Guevara won the Moto2 race at the Austrian Grand Prix, and cut the gap to championship leader Manuel Gonzalez in the standings. This was the Spaniard’s second victory of the season.
The future MotoGP rider, who will also step up to the premier class with the Pramac team, took the lead after a chaotic opening lap in Austria and then built a comfortable gap to his rivals.
Behind Guevara, Filip Salac managed to hold on to second place despite being chased by future Honda rider David Alonso. The Colombian rider completed the podium today.
Gonzalez finished fourth today at the Red Bull Ring. This means the Intact GP rider’s lead over Guevara has been reduced, although he still holds a 35.5-point advantage over his rival in the Moto2 standings.
Among the other riders who will step up to MotoGP next year, Daniel Holgado finished seventh, while Senna Agius was unable to finish the race due to a bike issue.

What happened in Moto3?
Similarly to what Pedro Acosta did during Saturday’s MotoGP Sprint, David Almansa crashed out of the lead during the Moto3 race at the Red Bull Ring. However, the Intact GP rider lost control of his bike at Turn 2B rather than 2A.
As a result, Maximo Quiles crossed the finish line in first place, and extended his lead in the riders’ standings as well. KTM riders Brian Uriarte and Alvaro Carpe completed the top three today.
