Hannah Einbinder, Susan Sarandon Among Protesters Detained Outside UN Amid Netanyahu Arrival; Dozens Of Delegates Walk Out During Israeli PM’s Speech

Benjamin Netanyahu‘s arrival to New York City was meet with chants of “Free Palestine” outside the United Nations on Thursday.

Hannah Einbinder and Susan Sarandon were among as many as 100 anti-war protesters who were detained while blocking Bibi’s entrance to the U.N. building, where he spoke with global leaders at the U.N. General Assembly.

Also present at the demonstration were Cynthia Nixon, Elliot Page, Chelsea Manning, Sarah Sherman, Mary Beth Barone, Indya Moore and Caleb Hearon, protesting Netanyahu and the ongoing strikes on Gaza in the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Videos of the demonstration show protesters chanting, “Free, free Palestine! Stop the genocide!”

“Netanyahu, you can’t hide! We charge you with genocide!” others chanted at the protest organized by Jewish Voice for Peace and other organizations.

As dozens of delegates walked out of Netanyahu’s speech, he declared to applause from others, “If there are any other moral cowards who haven’t yet left this hall, please do so now. Thank you very much.”

Netanyahu went on to claim that allegations of Israel’s genocide in Gaza are “the biggest lie of the century,” saying that attacking Iran “was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever had to make.”

Although scheduled to meet with Trump during his brief visit, Netanyahu thanked the twice-impeached POTUS for his support in the “battle against the barbarians” during his mission to defend Israel and IDF soldiers from the U.N. podium.
