MS NOW is going all in on the opening this week of the Obama Presidential Center, with a sit-down interview with former President Barack Obama and a conversation with former First Lady Michelle Obama.
The network will show a two hour special on Friday, Hope Comes Home: Inside the Obama Presidential Center, at 9 p.m. ET. It will feature MS NOW Senior Contributing Editor Michele Norris‘ interview with the former president, as well as chats with the former first lady and a tour of the center with Valerie Jarrett, CEO of the Obama Foundation. It also will feature those who worked on the center, which is located in Jackson Park in Chicago.
MS NOW also plans live coverage of the grand opening ceremony on Thursday, with Jacob Soboroff and Nnamdi Egwuonwu reporting from the center. Al Sharpton, Jonathan Capehart and Claire McCaskill will contribute with analysis and coverage from Chicago.
The center is a museum, library and parkland space that also will host special events and performances. The center is privately owned and operated, with the actual records of the Obama administration held by the National Archives and Records Administration. NARA is billing its holdings as the first fully digital presidential library.
