Two weeks after the world championships, most of cycling’s biggest names return to the road Saturday in Italy for the last of the Monuments on the 2026 calendar, Il Lombardia.

As has been the case at most races since the Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar’s absence throws the race wide open to any number of contenders. The Slovenian superstar won the last five iterations of this event, so someone else will take the glory in Como this year for the first time since 2020.

Numerous riders will like their chances Saturday, including Remco Evenepoel, Paul Seixas, Richard Carapaz, Lenny Martinez, Tom Pidcock and many more. Newly crowned world champion Brandon McNulty will be sporting the rainbow stripes but will be racing in support of UAE teammate Isaac del Toro as the young Mexican tries to better last year’s fifth-place finish.

The route is brutal as always, with numerous climbs jammed into the 239 km course. Who will prevail in the last major one-day challenge of the year?

Here’s all you need to know to watch the 120th edition of Il Lombardia.
