Co-creator Ryan Murphy said last month that he had been in touch with “around 10 of the original cast members” of the show, though no casting was announced as part of the series order.

In addition to Michele, the original Glee cast included Chris Colfer, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale and Matthew Morrison as well as Dianna Agron, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Naya Rivera and Darren Criss.

Morrison is not in talks to appear on the reboot as of yet, sources tell Deadline. We understand that the actor is hopeful that he will be part of the project.

Set at William McKinley High Schol in Lima, Ohio, Glee followed the members of the New Directions, a glee club competing in the show choir circuit, while dealing with social issues. Each episode featured a musical performance.

Michele’s Rachel Berry character was an ambitious, mega-talented, hyper-focused Broadway-bound diva from Lima, Ohio. Driven by a lifelong dream of stardom, she was known for her powerhouse vocals and drive, but often alienated peers with her ego.

The reboot comes from original show producer 20th Television.

The original Glee, which won six Emmys including for Murphy and Lynch as well as guest stars such as Neil Patrick Harris and Gwyneth Paltrow, currently streams on Hulu.

Michele recently wrapped her starring role as Florence Vassy in the Broadway revival of Chess. She most recently was seen in a guest role on CBS’ Elsbeth.
