Jack Champion, Owen Patrick Joyner, Grace Van Dien & Georgie Murphy Lead YA Romance ‘The One Before The One’ After Cast Switch

EXCLUSIVE: Jack Champion (Avatar franchise), Owen Patrick Joyner (Final Destination: Bloodlines), Grace Van Dien (Stranger Things) and Georgie Murphy (Stumble) are now leading the YA romance The One Before The One, which Blue Fox Entertainment launched at the Cannes market earlier this year.

Production wrapped in Austin, Texas last month, on the movie written and directed by Brittany Sarkisian, based on a story by John E Clark. The film is produced by Sarkisian and Jaylen Moore for Showmance Productions, along with Raja Collins, Dan Sheldon and Tara Pirnia.

The synopsis reads: “When burned-out Wall Street analyst Steven (Champion) returns to his hometown for his twentieth high school reunion, he is inexplicably transported back to his senior year and reunited with his lost love, Beth (Van Dien). Steven becomes determined to rewrite history, but the version of Beth he spent twenty years idolizing may not be the soulmate he remembered. While trying to ensure his best friend Brian (Joyner) doesn’t once again miss the opportunity to play college football and rebuilding his relationship with his longtime friend and songwriter, Katie (Murphy), Steven slowly comes to realize that the life and love he always wished for might not be the one that got away.”

The film was previously set to star Charlie Gillespie, Sara Waisglass, and Siena Augudong, but scheduling conflicts led to the new cast being drafted in soon over the summer.

The film is said to be “set against the backdrop of late-90s nostalgia: nokia phones, house parties, alt rock, and the looming panic surrounding Y2K”.

Champion is represented by UTA, Amplifed, and Goodman, Genow. Joyner is repped by Prototype Talent Agency, Protégé Entertainment and Myman Greenspan. Murphy is repped by Gersh, Link Entertainment, and Play Management. Van Dien is repped by Innovative Artists and Link Entertainment.
