EXCLUSIVE: Travis Fimmel will return as Black Snow investigator James Cormack on New Year’s Day.
You can see a teaser of Dune: Prophecy actor Fimmel in Black Snow Season 3 above and in first-look pictures below ahead of a January 1 double-episode return for the series on Stan in Australia. AMC Global Media is the U.S. home for the series, which comes from Goalpost Pictures.
Fimmel is joined in the Season 3 cast by George Mason (Sunny Nights), who returns as Ritchie Cormack with new cast members including Lee Tiger Halley (Boy Swallows Universe), Caroline Craig (Underbelly), Aaron Jeffery (McLeod’s Daughters), Samson Alston (Stan Original Year Of), Rose Riley (East of Eden), Wayne Blair (Total Control) and Charmaine Bingwa (The Good Fight).
Each season of Black Snow follows a new cold case, with Season 3 moving the action from fictional town of Moorevale to tropical far north Queensland. The case is set around the impending trial of James Cormack’s brother, Ritchie, who is accused of murdering his best friend, Liam Knox, in 1999. In the present day, Knox’s family run a charter boat business.
As the trailer notes, this time the case personal for James, who is seen in the trailer shocked by his brother’s arrest. “What would you do if it was your family on the line?” he asks emotionally, as the teaser comes to a close.
Fimmel, who is an exec producer on the show, is directing alongside Daniel Nettheim (The Assassin) and Christiaan Van Vuuren (Top End Bub). He made his directorial debut in Season 2, as we told you first at the time.
Fimmel is joined on the exec producer front by Goalpost Pictures Rosemary Blight and Ben Grant, and Lucas Taylor (Limbo), who also serves as series creator. Executive producers for Stan are Donna Chang and Andy Ryan. Taylor and Beatrix Christian return as writers, with Milly Olrog the producer, and Rob Marsh the Director of Photography.
Season 3 of Black Snow comes from Goalpost in association with All3Media International and AMC Global Media, with Screen NSW, which supported post, digital and visual effects, also attached and financial support from Screen Queensland. The Queensland government was also involved through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy.
