Range Signs ‘Power: Legacy’ EP & Showrunner Gary Lennon

EXCLUSIVE: Range has inked award-winning playwright, showrunner, producer, writer, and director Gary Lennon.

Lennon is currently the showrunner and EP of Power: Legacy which Rosy first reported back in June was greenlit by Starz. The series, which is also from EP Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, is currently in pre-production.

Recently, Lennon was the showrunner and EP of Power Book IV: Force. Starz touted the success of Force‘s third and final season as delivering record-setting in-season growth. Specifically, the Season 3 premiere pulled in 9 million multiplatform viewers, taking the franchise to an accumulated 2+ billion hours viewed globally across all of its series. Lennon was also the co-showrunner of the original Power for its last two seasons. His time in the Power universe has earned him two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Drama Series.

Additionally, under his overall deal with Starz, Lennon served is the co-showrunner of the crime drama Hightown. He recently sold and is developing his original pilot for Starz, Los Feliz, a high-stakes crime drama set in the LA neighborhood of the same name. Lennon is penning all eight episodes.

Lennon was the EP of HBO’s award-winning Euphoria, which recently wrapped up its three-season run. His work as a writer on FX’s Justified earned him the prestigious Peabody Award, a WGA Award, an AFI Award, and a Critics’ Choice nomination, while his time as a writer on Netflix’s groundbreaking comedy-drama, Orange in the New Black, earned him an Emmy nomination, a Peabody Award, a PGA Award, and a WGA Nomination.

His other television credits include P-Valley, The Black Donnelly’s and The Shield.

Lennon is currently writing the feature film, California Bear, based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name for 20th Century Studios and Ryan Coogler’s Proximity Media.

Lennon began his career in theater. His play The Interlopers received three Ovation nominations and two NAACP nominations in addition to being an LA Times Critics’ Pick. His play A Family Thing was also an LA Times Critics’ Pick, earning six LA Weekly and two Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Nominations.

Lennon continues to be represented by CAA and Paul Hastings.
