Prime Video has set a winter premiere date for Barbershop, starring Jermaine Fowler. It’s upcoming comedy series inspired by the film franchise will launch with all eight episodes on February 10, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The streamer also released two first-look photos, which you can see above and below.
Jermaine Fowler stars as Travis “Trav” Walker, who returns to Chicago hoping to honor his grandfather’s legacy at the iconic Calvin’s barbershop, but the shop has changed, and so has the city. As Trav struggles to find his place among a new crew of barbers and loyal customers, Calvin’s remains what it’s always been, a place for sharp fades, sharp opinions, and a community that always has something to say.
Cast also includes Brett Gray, Punkie Johnson, Roy Wood Jr., E.J. Bonilla, Bresha Webb, Bokeem Woodbine, Tiana Okoye, and Langston Kerman. Zack Fox, Ego Nwodim, Diallo Riddle, Ziwe, Tituss Burgess, comedian CP, Devon Walker and Belmont Cameli will guest in the series.

Barbershop hails from Amazon MGM Studios, MGM Television, Hartbeat, Busy B Entertainment, Prominent Productions, and State Street Pictures. The series is executive produced by Marshall Todd, co-writer of the original film, who also writes and serves as co-showrunner; Max Searle, who also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer; Kevin Hart, Bryan Smiley, Mike Stein, and Tiffany Brown for Hartbeat; Bradley Gardner for Busy B Entertainment; Cameron Burnett and Autumn Bailey-Ford for Prominent Productions; George L. Tillman and Robert Teitel for State Street Pictures; Fowler; and Oz Rodriguez, who also directs. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
The Barbershop franchise consists of four films, which center around the social lives of employees in a barbershop on the South Side of Chicago. The first movie, 2002’s Barbershop, stars Ice Cube as Calvin, who inherits the struggling business from his deceased father. He views the shop as nothing but a burden and waste of his time, but after selling it to a local loan shark, Calvin has second thoughts and struggles with the idea that he just sold it out. It’s followed by Barbershop 2: Back in Business in 2004, Beauty Shop in 2005, a spinoff from the first two Barbershop films starring Queen Latifah, and Barbershop: The Next Cut in 2016. The film franchise grossed over $235 million worldwide.
