EXCLUSIVE: His & Hers became one of Netflix’s most-watched series ever after launching earlier this year.
The team behind the Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson-led thriller have once again teamed with Fifth Season to adapt the next book from His & Hers author Alice Feeney.
William Oldroyd will return to write and direct a series based on Feeney’s upcoming book Twist, which is being published at the start of next year. He has teamed up with Fifth Season, which will serve as the studio, Kristen Campo’s Campout Productions, Jessica Chastain and Kelly Carmichael’s Freckle Films, Bill Dubuque and Thompson’s Viva Maude, to develop it as a series.
Twist is a thriller about love, marriage, murder, and revenge. It centers around a flight attendant living a double life with two different husbands and a murder that shatters their lives. Told across dual POVs, the story twists and unravels as secrets surface, in a marriage thriller that asks if we can ever really know the person we marry.

The book will be published in the U.S. in February 2027 from Macmillian Publishers.
His & Hers, which premiered on Netflix in January, was the streamer’s most-watched show of the first half this year, receiving 104M views globally from its launch through to the end of June.
The series starred Thompson, who also executive produced, as a former news anchor, who returns to her small town in Georgia to report on a murder and ends up clashing with her ex-husband, played by Bernthal.
Feeney has been busy optioning her work for TV and film; Deadline revealed earlier this year that Downton Abbey and All Her Fault producer Carnival Films was adapting her book My Husband’s Wife and Beautiful Ugly in in the works as a film from the producers of The Housemaid. Her debut novel Sometimes I Lie was set up at Warner Bros. TV in 2019 with Sarah Michelle Gellar set to star.
Twist exec producers include Oldroyd, Campo, Chastain, Dubuque, Thompson, Kelly Carmichael and Kishori Rajan.
