EXCLUSIVE: 20th Century Studios has rounded out the cast of its sequel to cult classic comedy Romy and Michele‘s High School Reunion with the addition of Anna Baryshnikov (Idiotka) and Sofia Wylie (The Map That Leads to You).
Character details are being kept under wraps. Wylie reunites here with director Tim Federle, with whom she worked on Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
Released in 1997 by Disney label Buena Vista, Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion follows two inseparable friends (Lisa Kudrow, Mira Sorvino) who attempt to reinvent themselves as successful career women — the inventors of the Post-it note, specifically — to impress former high school classmates at their 10-year reunion in Tucson.
No word yet on the plot of the sequel, which began shooting in Los Angeles in June, and will stream as a Hulu Original in the U.S. Kudrow and Sorvino have of course returned to lead the cast, with Alan Cumming, Janeane Garofalo, Camryn Manheim and Julia Campbell also set to reprise.

Others set for new roles in the sequel include Keegan-Michael Key, Rob Huebel, Breckin Meyer, Patrick Warburton and Nathan Lee Graham.
Federle is working from a script by Robin Schiff, who penned the original 1997 film. He’s also producing alongside the original film’s Laurence Mark, with Barry Kemp, Sorvino, Kudrow, and Schiff exec producing, Kimberly McCullough co-producing, and Sarah Shepard overseeing for 20th.
In film, Baryshnikov has most recently been seen starring in the critically acclaimed SXSW comedy Idiotka. Also known for roles in A24’s Love Lies Bleeding and Kenneth Lonergan’s Oscar-winning Manchester by the Sea, she plays a recurring role in Apple’s Cape Fear TV series and will be seen coming up in the ski resort drama Queenstown, marking Netflix’s first New Zealand original. She is represented by CAA, Untitled, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
Other past credits for Wylie include The Map That Leads to You and The School for Good and Evil. She’ll next be seen as one of the leads in The Body, Netflix’s coming-of-age thriller series from Quinn Shephard, and is repped by UTA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
