Barbara Eden Drops Out Of Cinecon Due To “Sudden Illness”

Barbara Eden had to cancel her appearance at the Cinecon 62 Classic Film Festival this weekend after becoming ill.

On Saturday, the festival announced that “due to a sudden illness,” the I Dream of Jeannie star would not be able to accept the Cinecon Legacy Award that night, with her co-star Pat Boone stepping in to accept the award on her behalf.

“We’re sorry to share that, due to a sudden illness, Barbara Eden will no longer be able to appear in person at Cinecon tonight,” the festival announced on Facebook. “Barbara is deeply regretful that she had to cancel at the last minute as she had been very much looking forward to seeing everyone and celebrating with us.

“Although Barbara will not be able to join us in person, we will still be honoring her as planned. Co-star Pat Boone will accept the Cinecon Legacy Award on her behalf after tonight’s screening of All Hands on Deck (1961). Mr. Boone has also agreed to stay and sign autographs after the film.”

The festival’s statement continued, “We know how many of you were excited to welcome Barbara. We appreciate your understanding and join you in sending her our best wishes for a speedy recovery.”

Eden’s scheduled Cinecon appearance comes two weeks after the actress celebrated her 95th birthday.
