Big Brother is continuing to house solid ratings for CBS as its spinoff series Big Brother: Unlocked delivered its most-watched episode ever.
The classic reality series, which premiered on July 9, averaged 5M viewers across its premiere week with the first three episodes of Season 28, per Nielsen. This was up 14% from last year, which saw it average 4.34M.
Using live-plus-three day multiplatform ratings, the show also grew 13% with adults aged between 18 and 49 and was up 18% with adults 25-54.
CBS also got a bit spicy, claiming that during its premiere window, Big Brother outperformed its former paramour Love Island on Peacock by 58% per episode. The dating show, which aired its first three seasons on CBS, averaged 3.15M for its premiere week, per the network.
This comes as the Julie Chen Moonves-hosted series, created by John De Mol, landed its most-watched premiere episode in five years.
Season 28 of Big Brother introduced a time travel theme with 14 new Houseguests alongside surprise appearances from reality vets Angela Murray, Rachel Reilly and Rick Devens.
Survivor winner Dee Valladares entered the game during the premiere of Big Brother: Unlocked.
That move helped the spinoff series, which is hosted by Jerry O’Connell, Taylor Hale and Derrick Lavaseur, score its most-watched episode ever, averaging 3.44 million viewers up 46% from its premiere last year.
Big Brother: Unlocked features analysis as well as additional footage not aired during Big Brother. It launched last year.
Big Brother is produced by Fly on the Wall Entertainment in association with Endemol Shine North America. Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan exec produce.
