The upcoming third season of beloved Australian comedy Colin From Accounts will be last, the show’s stars have confirmed.
Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall, who play a mismatched Sydney couple who adopt an injured dog, made the announcement alongside production house Easy Tiger and streamer Binge. The news came as Binge revealed a July 27 launch date for the show in Australia.
“Creatively it feels like the right time to say goodbye to Colin From Accounts after three seasons,” said Dyer and Brammall in a statement.
“We love everything about making this show. From writing all 24 episodes and producing with our amazing partners at Easy Tiger, to acting on set with our brilliant cast and spunky crew, to sitting in the edit with our wonderful post team where we are currently wrapping things up. We’re going to miss making this show terribly, but we hope you love season three as much as we do. Thank you for watching, it means the world.”
Dyer and Brammall co-created the show and are its writers and on-screen stars, helping it to become Binge’s most successful original series. In the U.S., the rights are with Paramount+, which has seen the show established among its most popular. There has been a similar level of discourse in the UK, where it is on the BBC. While streamers rarely reveal viewing numbers, the series has had a visible cultural impact in most territories and won several awards.
Minor spoilers to follow: Season 3 picks up after Gordon’s (Brammall) ill-fated proposal. Determined to move on with their lives, he and Ashley (Dyer) have to decide if they belong together or if Colin is the only thing keeping them together.
Joining the cast are Thomas Cocquerel (All Her Fault), Nikki Shiels (The Last Anniversary) and Mark Trevorrow (The Bob Downe Show), and returning cast Emma Harvie, Genevieve Hegney, Michael Logo, Helen Thomson, Darren Gilshenan, Virginia Gay, Annie Maynard, Celeste Barber, Justin Rosniak and Tai Hara.
In Australia, episodes 1 & 2 will launch on Binge and Foxtel On Demand on July 27, with the following five episodes streaming weekly.
Easy Tiger Productions and CBS Studios are the co-producers. Executive producers are Rob Gibson, Ian Collie, Brammall, Dyer, Trent O’Donnell, Lana Greenhalgh and Daniel Monaghan, with Kevin Greene producing. Trent O’Donnell directs four episodes of the final season, with Madeleine Dyer directing the remaining four.
