EXCLUSIVE: Two-time Oscar winner Dianne Wiest (Hannah and Her Sisters) and Oscar nominee Ciarán Hinds (Belfast) are set to star in comedy-drama This Old Love Of Mine.

WestEnd Films has boarded world sales on the project ahead of the TIFF market. The project reunites WestEnd with director Terry Loane and the producing team behind his 2023 movie The Last Rifleman with Pierce Brosnan.

Written by Irish actor Eugene O’Hare, This Old Love Of Mine “follows Harry (Hinds) and Margo (Wiest) Bannon whose happy retirement in a quiet country town is upended when Harry discovers a letter revealing that Margo had an affair early in their marriage. Without discussion, he files for divorce and summons their three grown children home, igniting old resentments, fresh turmoil and local gossip. As a DNA test threatens to shatter everything they thought they knew, the Bannons are forced to confront what truly makes a family: blood, loyalty, or a lifetime of messy, enduring love.”

Director Terry Loane said: “From the moment I read Eugene O’Hare’s script, I was drawn to its sharply observed, deeply human characters and its wonderful understanding of family life. Margo and Harry’s late-life crisis brings decades of love, resentment and regret to the surface, with humour and emotional truth. My approach will be warm, intimate and performance-led, preserving the film’s distinctly Irish character while exploring universal themes of love, betrayal and forgiveness.”

Maya Amsellem, Managing Director of WestEnd Films, added: “This Old Love Of Mine is a warm and witty portrait of a family thrown into chaos by a secret from the past. Dianne Wiest and Ciarán Hinds are an exceptional pairing to embody the humour, history and complexity of a marriage spanning decades. With Terry Loane’s deft balance of comedy and emotion, this is a universally relatable story about family, forgiveness and enduring love that will resonate with audiences around the world.”

WestEnd previously partnered with Loane and the production team on The Last Rifleman, starring Pierce Brosnan, which was distributed by Sky Cinema in the UK and Ireland and Samuel Goldwyn Films in North America, with Universal Pictures Content Group releasing the film across several other territories.
