EXCLUSIVE: For the past eight weeks, Minnie Driver has been posting a series of “Paris Update” videos on Instagram, documenting her adventures in the city while filming the sixth and final season of Netflix’s Emily In Paris. Earlier today, Aug. 6, the British actress opened her latest video of her in bed wearing a neck bace with “Paris update is that I’m actually back in London,” revealing that she “got into a really bad car accident a few days ago” while “driving on a country road in the middle of France.”
According to sources, Driver was not working when the accident occurred; it happened during off time away from the set.
Emily In Paris‘ production schedule has remained virtually intact and only one scene involving Driver had to be moved as the actress had a pre-planned filming break, I hear. She is expected to return to work on the Paramount TV Studios-produced series starring Lily Collins when she recovers.

“I’ve got a sprained neck, and I’m really in shock and sort of cry all the time but I’m going to heal,” she said in the video, crediting the Kia EV2 she and her friend were driving for being able to walk away from the T-bone crash. “I am so grateful to be alive.”
Introduced in Season 5, Driver recurs as Princess Jane, a glamorous and eccentric old friend of Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) who had married into an Italian royal family. In the season finale, she helps her friend financially by becoming an equity partner at Agence Grateau but quickly makes it clear that she would want a say on creative and business matters.
“I’m not sure that Minnie Driver’s character, Princess Jane, saving them is the best outcome,” Emily In Paris creator Darren Star told Deadline in November about the move. “But I love Minnie, love working with her. She was so terrific on the series this season, and [added] such a different color to everything you know. Love her chemistry with Sylvie and her lack of chemistry with Emily (Collins).”
Filming on Season 6 began in May in Greece and swung by Monaco before returning to Paris for the bulk of the shoot.
In 2024, Emily In Paris accommodated co-star Ashley Park while she was recuperating from a critical septic shock she had suffered while on vacation, with production on Season 4 starting without her and Park joining after completing her recovery.
