Jared Leto Denies Criminal Sexual Conduct: “I Have Never Sexually Assaulted Anyone”

Jared Leto has strongly denied allegations of unlawful sexual conduct made by four women in a BBC documentary.

In a statement issued through his publicist, the Oscar-winning actor said: “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false.”

The statement follows the BBC publishing a documentary, titled Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, in which 10 women detailed their encounters with Leto between 2002 and 2016. 

Four women accused him of behavior that could have transgressed the law in the U.S. and UK. This included a woman who alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Leto in Las Vegas in 2002.

A second woman said that in 2006 she had sex with the Suicide Squad actor at his home in California when she was 17, which would be classified as statutory rape in the state.

A third woman alleged that she received sexual phone calls from Leto when she was aged 16 after meeting the Requiem for a Dream star at a Los Angeles modeling agency in 2014.

A fourth woman accused Leto of making a sexual threat after attending a Thirty Seconds to Mars concert at London’s O2 Arena in 2013.

Allegations about Leto first emerged last year when Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz posted on Instagram saying she had been assaulted by the actor when she was 17. The post prompted a flurry of replies from other women, who alleged that they had similar experiences.

This led to a report in U.S. media outlet Air Mail last year, in which nine women accused Leto of engaging in inappropriate behavior. At the time, Leto’s rep “expressly denied” the women’s accusations, including Teilz’s, which was said to be “demonstrably false.”

Leto is repped by WME. He most recently featured in Masters of the Universe as Skeletor. Upcoming projects include Soviet spacecraft story Lunik Heist for Disney-owned Searchlight Pictures.
