Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation is the organizer behind the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, will be the headliner for the 2027 event at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, a music industry insider has confirmed to Deadline.
The rap superstar and 25-time Grammy winner has been in the news being in the middle of the global Jay-Z 30 Tour concerts to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his debut album Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of his seminal The Blueprint. As part of those milestones, an eight-part docuseries Jay-Z in 8 about his career, done in conversation with uber-producer Rick Rubin, launched on HBO Max and HBO last month.
This 2027 Super Bowl is set for February 14 at SoFi, the Inglewood venue where Jay-Z is playing two shows this Friday and Saturday – likely the perfect place to make it official he will be back for Super Bowl halftime duties. ESPN is airing this year’s game which will be simulcast on ABC.

The NFL did not respond to a request for comment on the Jay-Z news Tuesday.
With Jay-Z set, the next question would be who will join him as special guests. Beyoncé is a likely pick (she appeared during the Yankee Stadium leg of the tour with her spouse), with others including Nas and Pharrell Williams also part of the NYC shows. The recent London leg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium featured a mini-Fugees reunion with Lauryn Hill and Wyclef.
Another possibility: In May, Jay-Z joined his longtime collaborators The Roots to headline the band’s Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, their first get-together in more than a decade.
Last year, Bad Bunny was the headliner at the at Levis Stadium in San Francisco. The performance, which featured appearances by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin and cameos from Jessica Alba, Pedro Pascal and more, drew 128.8 million viewers. That was down slightly from Kendrick Lamar’s record-setting 133M viewer total in 2025.
Lamar co-headlined the 2022 halftime show, the last time the Super Bowl was in L.A. He was joined by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Mary J. Blige for that performance.
Puck was the first to report Jay-Z’s selection.
