Jesikah Suggs, a writer-producer of Netflix’s My Life With The Walter Boys, died at her home in Studio City, California, on Tuesday, August 18, following an eight-year battle with breast cancer. She was 32.
Her death was announced by her family.
Born March 02, 1994, in Dallas, Texas, Suggs, the sister and frequent writing partner of writer/producer/lyricist Liz Suggs (Disenchantment, Parenthood), received her degree in film from Baylor University in Texas before heading to Los Angeles, where she found work as an intern for TV’s Big Brother. Later, she joined sister Liz working as an assistant for writer and producer Jason Katims, later contributing as a writer for Katims’ Parenthood.
Serving as a producer on the 2019 special The Kennedy Center Presents: Liz Suggs at Millennium Stage, Suggs subsequently wrote on the first three seasons of My Life With The Walter Boys (2023-2026) starring Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde, and Ashby Gentry; she was a story editor on Season 1 and was promoted to co-producer in Seasons 2 and 3. She was at work on writing for the upcoming Season 4 at the time of her death.
Suggs also co-produced eight episodes of the 2026 Amazon Prime series It’s Not Like That, writing one episode. The series starred Scott Foley and Erinn Hayes. She also wrote a 2022 episode of Katim’s Amazon Prime series As We See It.
Diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 24, Suggs “courageously underwent every treatment that was thrown her way: double mastectomy, chemo, radiation,” her sister Liz says. “Through it all, she showed up to work every day, eager to defy being defined by cancer.
“Two years after her initial diagnosis, her cancer metastasized,” her sister continues. “Jes, once again, courageously endured and triumphed through every treatment imaginable, and she did it with a smile on her face and love for all the healthcare workers who poured their care into her…Her life will continue to bear fruit in the stories told by every writer she touched– so in a sense, she’ll still be writing for a very, very, very long time.”
Suggs is survived by her husband of 20 months, Watchmen actor Dustin Ingram; mother Roxanne Suggs; sisters Elizabeth Suggs and Dallas district attorney Kathryn Suggs; brother Jimmy Suggs and wife Elizabeth; two nieces, a nephew and other extended family. She was predeceased by father Jim Suggs.
A memorial service was held in Los Angeles on August 22, with another service set for August 29 in Grapevine, Texas.
