EXCLUSIVE: John Goodman has joined Brie Larson in the Sony Pictures thriller Skeletons. JT Mollner is directing the pic. Kyle Gallner, Willa Fitzgerald, Ione Skye and Daithí Ó Haragáin also are on board.
The film is a modern take on creature horror movies told from the perspective of a young boy who slowly begins to discover his beloved parents are hiding a disturbing secret about his mother’s true nature.
Brian Duffield wrote the initial screenplay based off the short story by Phillip Fracassi, with revisions by Mollner. Sony Pictures picked up worldwide rights during this year’s European Film Market with FilmNation, WME, and CAA handling the sale.
The movie hails from FilmNation Entertainment’s production label Infrared, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, and Assemble Media. Drew Simon, Abrams and Jon Cohen will produce along with Jack Heller. Assemble’s Caitlin de Lisser-Ellen and Duffield will exec produce as will Roy Lee and Steven Schneider. Larson and Fracassi are also exec producing. Infrared is financing.
