Linda Cardellini joined her onscreen husband David Harbour from DTF St. Louis in winning her first Emmy Award for her role in the HBO dark comedy series. She rook the trophy Sunday night in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
“I’m overcome, I’m sorry it’s a little embarrassing, but this has just been an unbelievable journey,” Cardellini said on stage. “Thank you to everybody along this way, all these years, who helped me get to this moment. A real dream come true, and I appreciate it very much.”
This is Cardellini’s third nomination and first win. She was previously nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category for Netflix’s Dead to Me and Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for AMC’s Mad Men.

“One of my friends once told me it’s a long life in this business if they’re lucky, and I feel very lucky to be here right now holding this Emmy,” she said backstage.
Cardellini also described how she felt walking onstage when her name was called as the winner.
“My heart was beating so fast and I just wanted to be able to feel it and look out and see people and to be able to look out and see so many of my castmates nominated,” she said.
Harbour was one of three DTF St. Louis nominees for Supporting Actor In a Limited or Anthology Series of Movie along with Jason Bateman and Richard Jenkins; Cardellini was nominated on the distaff side alongside Joy Sunday.

In a departure from past years, the supporting acting awards in the limited series category were handed out during Emmys Night 2 (which was formerly referred to as the Creative Arts Emmys), ahead of the primetime ceremony and telecast September 14. Cardellini’s speech was not televised.
DTF St. Louis follows a love triangle between three adults (Harbour, Cardellini, Bateman) experiencing middle-age malaise that leads to one of them ending up dead.
The dark comedy has 13 nominations at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards; it was a big winner Sunday with six Emmys, including writing and directing.
Come next Monday, DTF St. Louis is also up for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series during the primetime ceremony and telecast.
