HBO Max is about to become a Kombat zone.
Warner Bros and New Line Cinema’s action sequel Mortal Kombat II has booked July 24 for the start of its streaming battle. The pic will hit linear screens the next day on HBO.
The video game-based pic from Simon McQuoid and screenwriter Jeremy Slater follows the fan favorite champions — now joined by Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) himself — as they are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford) that threatens the very existence of the Earth realm and its defenders.
Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim and Hiroyuki Sanada also star.

Mortal Kombat II opened with $63 million worldwide in early May en route to a $79.8 million domestic cume and $129.5 million global. Originally set to hit theaters on October 24, 2025, it was moved to May 15 then up a week to Mother’s Day frame alongside Amazon MGM’s The Sheep Detectives.
A year ago this week, its trailer — watch it here — set a red-band record with 106.8M worldwide views in its first 24 hours.
Mortal Kombat II is produced by Todd Garner, E. Bennett Walsh, James Wan, Toby Emmerich and McQuoid, with Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Jeremy Slater, Ed Boon — who co-created the Mortal Kombat video game withj John Tobiasand Lawrence Kasanoff serving as executive producers.
