Netflix Snaps Up Australian Doc Series ‘2.6 Seconds: Death In The Outback’ Ahead Of TIFF Bow

EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has picked up Australian documentary series 2.6 Seconds: Death in the Outback globally ahead of its world premiere at Toronto.  

The four-part Australian documentary series, produced by Blackfella Films for SBS and NITV is the only documentary among the ten series selected for TIFF‘s Primetime program.

The series examines the events and far-reaching repercussions of the two fatal shots fired in 2.6 seconds that ended the life of 19-year-old Kumanjayi Walker, and prompted a national debate over justice, policing and race in Australia.

The series from director Darren Dale will premiere on Netflix in early 2027. Writer is Andrew Boe, with Dale also producing. Executive Producers are Andrew Boe and Jacob Hickey.

2.6 Seconds is a co-commission between SBS and NITV with the production of Blackfella Films in association with PAW Media.
