OJ’s Accomplice, a two-part documentary that has been in the works at Peacock for some time, is having its premiere moved up as news around the infamous murder trial heats up.

The doc, which comes from Ari Mark’s Ample Entertainment, is set to premiere on the NBCUniversal streamer on November 1, having previously been dated for December.

The move comes after the New York Times published its own investigation around the case earlier this month with the streamer wanting to take advantage of the topic being in the zeitgeist.

It emerged last month that Peacock had ordered OJ’s Accomplice, a doc that claims to offer “real evidence” that suggests members of O.J. Simpson’s inner circle may have known more than they’ve let on about the brutal murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

The NYT subsequently published a news feature based on records that show a “prized government informant had told law enforcement key information about the killings, including the supposed location of the murder weapon and details about Mr. Simpson’s efforts to evade prosecution”.

The streamer said its documentary “challenges the dominant narrative around the O.J. Simpson murder saga and offers real evidence suggesting that what we thought we knew about the most obsessed-over crime story of all time could be all wrong.”

It will feature interviews with Simpson’s houseguest and trial witness Kato Kaelin and Nicole Brown’s sister alongside never-before-heard first-person accounts from eyewitnesses and presents new information “raising questions as to whether members of O.J.’s inner circle may have been there that night.”

Others interviewed include the original defense investigator, Pat McKenna; lead detective Tom Lange; and DEA agent Robert Brisolari.

Nicole Brown Simpson – O.J.’s ex-wife – and Ron Goldman were murdered on June 12, 1994. Former NFL star and actor Simpson was charged with the murders and became a fugitive after failing to turn himself in to the L.A. Police Department and instead took off in a white Ford Bronco on a slow-speed chase that was watched live by millions.

However, Simpson was acquitted of both murders in 1995 after an eight-month trial, though Goldman’s father filed a civil suit against the Naked Gun star and a jury found him responsible for the deaths.

OJ’s Accomplice is directed by Mark and Sumit David, who also exec produce.
