Obsession director Curry Barker, Gary Oldman and Mattel Studios President and Barbie producer Robbie Brenner have joined the Visionaries and Dialogues talks program of Toronto’s rebooted TIFF Market.
Oldman, who will be in Toronto for the premiere of the sixth season of Apple-backed drama Slow Horses in its TV-focused Primetime section, and Oscar-nominated Brenner will speak as part of the market’s Visionaries talks sidebar.
Brenner is at TIFF this year as the producer of psychological historical drama The Housewife, with Naomi Watts and Tye Sheridan, which will world premiere as a Special Presentation.
Lee Chang-dong, who will be in Toronto for the North American premiere of his new film Possible Love and to receive the Ebert Director Tribute Award, will also give an in-depth talk about his work in the strand.
Barker, who debuted Obsession in TIFF’s Midnight Madness sidebar last year ahead of its box office breakout success for Focus Features’ will dissect the making of the film and its subsequent release journey in the Dialogues program, accompanied by the film’s star Inde Navarrette.
Other speakers in that strand will include Killer Films co-founders Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler, who will talk about the multi-faceted role of a producer and their approach to working with filmmakers.
The newly unveiled speakers join previously announced guests, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group’s Co-Chairs and CEOs Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca,
