Rob Reiner Gets Posthumous Emmy Nomination For Guest Turn In ‘The Bear’

Rob Reiner received a posthumous Emmy nomination today for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his turn as Albert Schnur in season 4 of FX’s The Bear.

During season 4, Schnur is a restauarant franchiser who mentors Edwin Lee Gibson’s Ebraheim, advising him on how to expand The Original Beef sandwich walk-up window after Carmy and Sydney evolved the main eatery into fine dining.

Following Reiner’s tragic death, The Bear paid tribute to him in the series finale, ‘The Original Beef of Chicagoland’. Line cook Ebra convinces Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) to franchise the sandwich shop and gives Albert (Reiner) a call with the good news.

“Albert, we are in business,” Ebra says into the phone. “It’s perfect. I will have all the documents, email it to you immediately. Anything else I can do?”

Albert can’t be heard on the other end of the line, but the conversation goes well with Ebra adding “As you wish,” a nod to a popular line from Cary Elwes in Reiner’s 1987 comedy The Princess Bride.

Reiner told People magazine during the press tour for the This Is Spinal Tap re-release last summer that it was Christopher Guest’s wife, Jamie Lee Curtis, who encouraged him to do The Bear.

“She had told me she was on the seasons before, and then when I was asked to do it, I said, ‘I don’t know,’ and she said, ‘No, you’ve got to do it! It’s really fun!’,” Reiner told People.

“It was so much fun to do,” the Emmy-winning actor said. “It’s fun to act, and I love acting because it’s no worries. You just show up and do your work.”

Reiner won a Best Supporting Actor Comedy Series Emmy in 1978 for his turn as Michael in CBS’ All in the Family.

While The Bear‘s final season five dropped last month on Hulu, the series fourth season from last summer is in contention for this year’s Emmys.

The Bear received eight Emmy nominations for its fourth season. The Christopher Storer created series has won 21 Emmys already.

Rob and wife Michele’s son Nick Reiner was arrested for allegedly killing the couple in their Brentwood home on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025.

In February, Nick entered a not guilty plea on two counts of first-degree murder. Nick’s case was most recently pushed to the fall as investigators continue collecting evidence.
