EXCLUSIVE: Prime Video has rounded out the cast for its upcoming series Sex Criminals, an adaptation of Image Comics’ title, adding Emmy nominee Joseph Lee (Beef) and Sunita Mani (His & Hers) in significant recurring roles.
They join leads Imogen Poots and John Reynolds and previously cast Pamela Adlon, BD Wong, Ayden Mayeri and Ashleigh Cummings in the series from Emily V. Gordon, Kumail Nanjiani — who also recurs — Tze Chun, LuckyChap and Amazon MGM Studios.
In Sex Criminals, co-created by Gordon, Nanjiani and Chun, Suze (Poots), is a normal girl with an extraordinary ability: When she has sex, she stops time. One night, she meets Jon (Reynolds), who has the same gift. And so they do what any other sex-having, time-stopping couple would do: They rob banks.

Lee will play Detective Franklin, and Mani will portray Lucy. No character details were revealed.
Chun serves as showrunner for the series based on the comic written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Chip Zdarsky, which first was published in 2013.
Gordon, Nanjiani and Dani Melia executive produce the eight-episode series via Winter Coat Films alongside Chun, Dani Gorin for LuckyChap, Fraction and Zdarsky. Nia DaCosta directs Episodes 1, 2, 7 and 8 and executive produces. Louie Hayes from LuckyChap is a producer.
Lee earned his first Emmy nomination for his breakout performance opposite Ali Wong and Steven Yeun in Netflix’s critically acclaimed series Beef. He next stars in Apple TV+’s sci-fi thriller Neuromancer opposite Callum Turner. Recent television credits include Law & Order: Organized Crime, Star Trek: Picard and the KBS drama The Miracle That We Met, and his film work includes Sony’s Searching and A24’s Materialists. Lee is repped by Gersh, Anonymous Content, and Sloane Offer Weber and Dern.
Known for her breakout role as Arthie on GLOW, Mani was most recently seen in the role of Priya in the Netflix limited series His & Hers, opposite Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal. Additional TV credits include Apple TV’s Government Cheese, HBO’s Scenes From A Marriage and M. Night Shyamalan’s Apple series Servant. Recent feature credits include a co-starring role opposite Olivia Coleman and Benedict Cumberbatch in The Roses, as well as Death of a Unicorn, A Nice Indian Boy and Apple TV’s Spirited. Mani is repped by Mosaic, UTA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
