Sony’s Columbia Pictures Promotes Maia Eyre To EVP Creative Development

EXCLUSIVE: Sony Pictures has promoted Maia Eyre to EVP Creative Development at Columbia Pictures.

Eyre will report to Columbia Pictures’ President of Production Peter Kang on the Culver City lot. She previously was SVP Creative Development at Columbia Pictures.

Eyre is the executive responsible for bringing Anyone but You star Sydney Sweeney and her production company, Honey Trap, into Sony for a producing deal. That pact was announced in June. Eyre is shepherding Hollow, a retelling of the Sleepy Hollow tale that has Sweeney and Belmont Cameli attached to star.

Eyre previously brought in Sweeney’s hit romantic comedy Anyone but You, which also starred Glen Powell and grossed $214M WW.

Eyre is also currently overseeing the adaptation of the New York Times bestselling YA novel, Fake Skating. Amélie Hoeferle and Graham Campbell were just announced as the starsof that project, with Will Gluck’s Olive Bridge producing. It will be the first book from bestselling author Lynn Painter to be adapted for the screen. It is set for release next summer.

The executive steered the Jack Black-Paul Rudd comedy Anaconda, which made $135M worldwide last year.

Originally from Canada, Eyre moved to Los Angeles in 2013 to attend the MFA Producer’s Program at UCLA. She began her career at Sony Pictures after landing an internship at TriStar Pictures.
