EXCLUSIVE: The Daily Show is on a hot streak.
Comedy Central‘s late-night satirical talk show scored its highest-rated Q2 in the key 18-49 demo in nine years, led by Jon Stewart‘s Monday night episodes, per new data from Paramount Skydance.
In the second quarter of the year, The Daily Show averaged a 0.574 among adults 18-49, up 46% versus a year ago.
Stewart’s episodes have seen a 21% uptick to hover around a 0.665 rating in the demo, but news team Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic have also delivered significant year-over-year growth Tuesday through Thursday. The crew has managed a 66% demo ratings increase to average a 0.526.
This year also marked the most-watched Q2 in eight years, up 17% year-over-year to rake in about 1.12M viewers per episode. That’s also the biggest average audience of any quarter since Q1 2019.
The upward trend on linear comes as the show is also overperforming on social media, up 16% in total social views to tally 2.2B in Q2. The Daily Show has also retained around 100M engagements, which is on par with last year.
The Daily Show recently received seven Emmy nominations, including for Outsanding Variety Series. In all, the franchise has earned 110 total nominations over its run. That includes multiple nods for Lydic, who this year extends her record as the most-nominated performer in her category since its creation. Klepper is also in the running again.
The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.n. ET/PT on Comedy Central with episodes available on Paramount+ the next morning.
