EXCLUSIVE: With their Netflix comedy series Nobody Wants This launching its third season on Netflix this weekend, Erin and Sara Foster have lined up another series project, These Summer Storms. The drama based on Sarah MacLean’s 2025 novel of the same name is in development at Hulu through 20th Television where the Fosters’ Fatigue Sisters is under an overall deal.
Written by Apples Never Fall developer/showrunner Melanie Marnich, These Summer Storms follows Alice Storm who hasn’t been welcome at her family’s magnificent private island off the Rhode Island coast in five years — not since she was cast out and built her life beyond the Storm name, influence, and untold billions. But the shocking death of her larger-than-life father changes everything.
Marnich executive produces alongside Erin Foster, Sara Foster and Montana McBirney via Fatigue Sisters, Oly Obst via 3 Arts and MacLean. 20th Television is the studio.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with the Foster sisters, 20th Television and Hulu to bring These Summer Storms to the screen,” MacLean said. “The team’s vision for the show, combined with Melanie Marnich’s brilliant writing, has made the whole project a dream come true. I cannot wait for the world to witness the delicious chaos of the Storm family in this new, exciting medium.”
Marnich recently served as executive producer and showrunner on the Peacock limited series Apples Never Fall starring Annette Bening, which she adapted from Liane Moriarty’s bestselling book. It held the #1 spot on Peacock for two weeks and made Nielsen’s Top 10 weekly rankings for streaming originals. Marnish also executive produced the FX limited series A Murder At the end of the World. She is repped by WME, Rise Management and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Erin Foster is the creator, writer, and executive producer of Nobody Wants This, starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, while Sara serves as an executive producer. The third season of the Emmy-nominated comedy was released Thursday and immediately shot up to #1 on Netflix’s daily US rankings. The Fosters are repped by 3 Arts, WME and Hansen Jacobson.
MacLean also wrote Bombshell and Wicked and the Wallflower. Her books have been translated into more than thirty languages. She is repped by Gersh, Root Literary and Hansen Jacobson Teller.
