A group of talent agencies and producers have joined forces to create to the American Entertainment Alliance, a new coalition dedicated to promoting U.S. independent production, pushing for legislation to force major studios and streamers to allocate half of their original content budgets to indie content.
Founding members include CAA, WME, UTA, Anonymous Content, Blumhouse, CAA, Imagine Entertainment, Jeff Sagansky, Legendary Entertainment, MRC, North Road, Producers United, Propagate Content and Ziffren Brittenham.
The AEI is focused on strengthening competition, expanding opportunities for indie producers and creators, and supporting film and TV production in the U.S., addressing a fundamental restructuring of the entertainment business. Studio consolidation and streaming have dramatically narrowed the market for independent content, disrupting the economics of film and TV, said UTA in a post on X today, saying it’s “proud to be a member of the American Entertainment Alliance”
The AEA will advocate for modern creative ownership rules that reflect today’s streaming marketplace and support policies that make the United States more competitive as a production destination.

“As film and television increasingly consolidate, we need a regulatory framework that puts creators first, protects industry workers and preserves competition,” said UTA’s Vice Chair Jay Sures.
The Alliance was first reported in the New York Times.
