Aaron Sorkin will return to the world of Facebook in , a companion film to The Social Network (2010).
The follow-up film is not quite a sequel, and different actors will appear in the technological thriller versus the 2010 film.

Deadline first reported that Oscar-winner Mikey Madison (Anora) and The Bear star Jeremy Allen White were top choices to star in the movie. Towards the end of Sept. 2025, their castings and that of Jeremy Strong as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg were made official along with the film’s title and release date. Bill Burr (Old Dads, The King of Staten Island) also is starring.
Deadline also first reported Wunmi Mosaku’s casting. The Sinners star can be seen in the film’s first trailer. Her recruitment was followed by that of Billy Magnussen, Betty Gilpin, Gbenga Akinnagbe and Anna Lambe.
Deadline also broke the news that Aidan Laprete (The Pitt, Drivers Ed), Kelley Pereira (The Runarounds) and Nelson Franklin(Veep) had joined the cast. Then came Portia Doubleday (Mr. Robot), Patrick Fischler (American Fiction), Joey Brooks (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty), Sierra Capri (Netflix’s On My Block and Tehmina Sunny (Partner Track).
What is The Social Reckoning about?
Sorkin’s original screenplay for the new movie explores the story behind the Wall Street Journal‘s The Facebook Files by reporter Jeff Horwitz, an explosive series of articles published in October 2021 that exposed the inner workings of — and multiple harms caused by — Facebook. White will play journalist Horwitz and Madison will play the whistleblower, Frances Haugen, behind the series of articles.
The companion film will be more of a thriller vs. The Social Network.

The first film was more of a drama adapting Ben Mezrich’s book The Accidental Billionaires. It starred Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg, Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin, Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker, Rooney Mara as Erica Albright with appearances from Armie Hammer as the Winklevoss twins, Brenda Song, Dakota Johnson and more.
