House of the Dragon soared to a smooth Season 3 finish. The final episode of the season tallied over 11 million U.S. viewers and 21 million global viewers within the first three days of its Sunday night debut, Warner Bros. Discovery said Thursday.

WBD did not say how that stacks up against the Season 2 finale’s three-day audience. The company previously revealed that the Season 2 conclusion drew 8.9M same-day viewers across HBO and digital platforms.

However, WBD did add that Season 3 is averaging 34 million global viewers per episode thus far, which is “holding steady” with Season 2 during the same time frame. Per WBD, Season 2 sat around 35 million an episode at this point. Globally, Season 3 is pacing as a top 3 returning HBO series on streaming, setting the stage nicely for the previously announced fourth season.

WBD said Thursday that the comedy series ended its seven-episode run averaging 4 million U.S. viewers. That put it on pace as the second most-watched HBO comedy launch in the streaming era.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” House of the Dragon, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen. The eight-episode Season 2, which wrapped in August 2024, picked up immediately after the death of Lucerys Velaryon, Rhaenyra’s son, at the hands of Aemond Targaryen. The season focused on the escalating conflict, moving the story from a cold war into the fiery “Dance of the Dragons” civil war.

Season three cast includes Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, James Norton, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin, and Abubakar Salim.

The series is co-created and executive produced by Martin and Ryan Condal, who serves as showrunner. Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Vince Gerardis, David Hancock and Philippa Goslett also executive produce.

Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness features comedy sketches about different moments in history. Per the logline, President and Mrs. Obama wanted to honor America’s 250th anniversary and celebrate the unique history of our nation on this special occasion. …But then Larry David called.

The half-hour limited series is written by David and Jeff Schaffer, who also directs. It is produced by Obama’s Higher Ground with David, Schaffer, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Vinnie Malhotra and Ethan Lewis exec producing.
