EXCLUSIVE: Leila George, the Australian-American actress known for turns in the likes of Disclaimer and Love Story, is set for a lead role opposite Miles Teller in , the thriller from Black Label Media that shoots this month.
Details as to the part are being kept under wraps, though sources said the character name is Leah. George joins a stacked cast also including Jason Momoa, Tenoch Huerta, Adria Arjona and Kiefer Sutherland.
Directed by Venice prize-winner John Swab, Copperhead‘s plot is thrust into motion when an undercover drug deal explodes into violence. A veteran detective is then forced to team with a young federal agent to unravel the conspiracy within their elite task force.
The film, penned by Chad Feehan and J. Todd Scott, is up for sales at TIFF via Black Bear. Black Label Media financed the project and is producing alongside Teller’s Lime Tree Productions and Swab’s Milk Boy, with CAA Media Finance and WME Independent co-repping domestic rights.

Breaking out with a role in Alfonso Cuarón’s Apple TV+ limited series Disclaimer, which earned her a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, George has most recently been seen in Ryan Murphy’s Love Story for FX, where she played Kelly Klein — photographer and one-time wife of fashion designer Calvin Klein — as well as Netflix’s Emmy-winning limited series The Beast in Me.
Previously, George was a series regular on TNT’s Animal Kingdom, appearing across three seasons. She stars opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Amazon MGM’s Road House 2 and will also be seen coming up in Netflix/Amblin’s series All the Sinners Bleed, as well as Oliver Stone’s White Lies, opposite Josh Hartnett. She is repped by WME, Strand Entertainment, United Agents, and United Management.
