Liz McGraw surprised fans of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island when she announced she had quit the Bravo series after only one season.
After McGraw’s announcement, chatter on social media speculated about why she didn’t want to continue on the show, with claims that she was afraid of facing jail time or of uncovering some “skeletons” in her past.
“It’s fascinating to me how everyone assumes my reason for leaving involves being afraid of ‘skeletons’ … ‘jail,’ etc,” McGraw fired back in an Instagram Story post. “This is not new gossip… it has been the local slander for YEARS.”
She continued, “If there were even an ounce of validity to it, I’d not have ever gone on a show! I realize that for some, it feels good to speculate, hate and defame my character, but I have never been investigated, not involved in ANY criminal case.”

McGraw noted that she found it “utterly ridiculous” how it all sounded and “wild” that “people feel at liberty to open state such absurd claims as facts.”
“Not that I have time on my hands, I will start the process of holding those originating and spreading such fiction accountable,” she ended her statement.
In a social media post, McGraw said she wouldn’t be returning for the second season of RHORI, adding that she was going “to take a step back and focus on my family, my work and my passions.”
The Real Housewives of Rhode Island quickly became a fan favorite when the series premiered earlier this year. McGraw was one of seven new personalities, along with Alicia Carmody, Rosie DiMare, Ashley Iaconetti, Rulla Nehme Pontarelli, Kelsey Swanson, and Jo-Ellen Tiberi.
