Presley Gerber Death Being Investigated As “Possible Overdose”, Cause Deferred Pending Additional Tests

The death of Presley Gerber, the son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, is being investigated as a “possible overdose,” according to a statement Monday from the Santa Monica Police Department.

Gerber died at a rehab facility in Santa Monica Sunday. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday that an autopsy had been performed and the cause and manner of death have been deferred pending additional testing.

Gerber, a model and the older brother of model and actor Kaia Gerber, had been open about his struggles with mental health and substance abuse, chronicling his journey on Instagram.

Gerber’s modeling began when he was a teenager. He signed with IMG models and and made his runway debut for Moschino at age 16. He walked for Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, and appeared in a Super Bowl ad for Pepsi with his mother in 2018. That same year, he and his sister Kaia shot a campaign for Calvin Klein jeans. He went on to do runway at various fashion weeks around the globe.

He recalled the whirlwind experience in a 2023 interview with the podcast Studio 22.

“My whole life changed within a month and it was just a very profound experience because I had to grow up quickly,” said Gerber.

In 2019, Gerber was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He received three years’ probation and was required to complete a DUI program and two days of community service.

The family confirmed Gerber’s death Sunday in a statement, “asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
